Exploring the history
of the East Antarctic ice sheet and geological structure of Dome A sub-glacial
mountains – Gamburtsev, are primary goals of the International Polar Year (IPY).
Polar Research Institute of China
are planning to hold the “International Workshop on Dome A Expedition during
IPY” as one of the Chinese IPY events.
This workshop is
organized to focus on the international Dome A expedition during IPY. The
objectives of this workshop are to exchange scientific and logistic information,
discuss the main issues in Dome A region, develop plans for implementation, and
to inform the related countries about Dome A expedition activities.
